    Elevation Gain: 2,400 ft.
Description: Come away with me to my cradle of humble origin! Within the embrace of the Blue Ridge Mountains, I plan to lead a hike at Stone Mountain State Park. Our journey will begin at the summit of Stone Mountain, in the upper parking lot at 9:00am, where we will hike our way down and into the valley, up Wolf Rock, over Cedar Rock, down Black Jack Ridge and into the thick of an old horse trail that will wind its way around to a moment frozen in time, by an old still, plundered to ruin long ago. From there, we will crest back up the mountain by the park's babbling creeks, beneath the murmuring mountain laurels and whispers from the fragrant rhododendrons - in full bloom from summer's searing kiss - taking time to visit each of the waterfalls going up: lower, middle and upper. I plan to stop for an early snack at Wolf Rock (early in the journey), and save lunch for the upper falls so we can relish in the natural beauty of the park while we nourish ourselves. I will email carpool and meetup details to my registrants closer to time. I plan to hold a social hour at Angry Troll Brewery, in downtown Elkin, after the hike for a proper "trail cap" and would love for everyone to join me who can. Be prepared for a calming hike where we can take time and hold space to admire the beauty of the natural world around us.
