Description: Let’s enjoy a beautiful Saturday hike along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Please join me for a scenic 10-mile out-and-back hike near Glendale Springs. We'll start at the Jumpinoff Rock parking area, Milepost 260.3 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. From the parking lot, we’ll hike on a rooty path through a rhododendron forest, pines, and carpets of galax. .Some 0.5 miles in, we’ll briefly stop to enjoy a fantastic view at a rock observation deck then follow the ridge with a enough uphills to make us know we’re actually hiking. Along the way, we’ll pass through a quiet glade of white pines as we make our way to the food stop at The Lump Overlook. The Lump is a rounded meadow that will offer amazing views of the surrounding landscape. Who knows, we might see a kite or two flying high above this breezy hilltop before we head back to the cars.10 miles, 2000’ elevation gain.
