Description: 5564 Meat Camp Rd, Todd NC Please join me for an early spring hike north of Boone. For the first part of the hike, we will climb a challenging uphill out and back trail which includes many switchbacks up to a summit where we will take in views of the Amphibolite Mountains seeing north to Virginia and south to Mount Mitchell. The leg back will be downhill and a beautiful walk in the forest. We will take a restroom and lunch break in the park before beginning the second part, backcountry trail. Hiking poles might be needed in navigating this old logging road with a couple of stream crossings. We can follow the creek upstream for a little waterfall gazing and enjoy the open forest before heading back.
